REVIEW – boursin dairy-free

I recently picked up this boursin dairy-free garlic & herbs cheese spread alternative at Trader Joe’s, and we loved it!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this boursin cheese spread. I had never tried the original boursin, so I didn’t really know what to expect. Because it’s labeled as a spread, I thought it was going to be somewhat thin. It’s actually kind of crumbly (although still spreadable), and I think it’s a perfect alternative to goat cheese.

We’ve used it to dot on top of pizza – after we took it out of the oven, because it will melt down too much when heated. This was also fabulous on bagels instead of cream cheese. Of course, this cheese is also delicious with crackers, and as part of a cheese board. But my favorite is to use some instead of feta on a Greek salad. I just add little chunks on top of the salad, and it is absolutely perfect!

Greek Salad

To make the perfect simple Greek salad, I slice some ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions. Then I add a few black olives, a sprinkling of oregano, a drizzle of really good olive oil and some red white vinegar, and salt & pepper to taste. And to top it all off I add a few little chunks of the boursin dairy-free cheese!

In my area, I have only found the boursin dairy-free at Trader Joe’s where it costs $5.99 for 170 gram tub.
